I Play. You Play. We All Play For Cosplay (Part 2)

Hello Internet.

Me again continuing my post on the magic of cosplay.  This one will be a post on future characters I'm looking at going as for future conventions so I'm open to suggestions at to what you think i should go as.

First on the agenda is a character that nearly everyone who had a half decent childhood.

This is a fairly simple costume to put together and is widely known to a lot of people. Its easy to find a costume online but finding a good quality costume is easier said than done and sometimes making the costume can be the better alternative. It can be done with a standard karate gi and a ton fuck of orange and blue dye.  I have also looked at getting the movie costume from that pile of shit that Fox made but the costumes online all appear to be over the £100 mark which i think is a bit much for something i can cook up at home with a bit of hard work.

I am also looking at making a battle damaged Goku costume. This would be more fun to make and saves having to find a top half to the costume and can be done with a blue shirt and the right pair of orange pants.

The Second costume I'm looking at doing is the Green Arrow costume from Arrow.

This costume is high on my to do list and is what I'm looking at going as for MCM in May or October in 2015. Ive seen a few versions of the costume online and they all seem to be good quality and can be tailor made to fit me which as a larger gentleman can be better than ordering set sizes because its hard to judge if the length will be wide enough to hide my 6 flab.

I went as a makeshift Green Arrow for my 21st and reworked a robin hood costume and added a bit of green face paint over my eyes so i got the look of the first series but with the introduction of the face mask in the second and third series. The item comes can be done for fairly cheap and adding a bow and a arrow in a quiver (No not actual arrows) will complete the look.

One of the other costumes I'm looking at going at going as is a slightly hipster Deadpool which doesn't appear to be hard to do at all. I already have a mask and the jacket and the only thing i would need to get is the pants and boots. The belts and ammo packs will be easy to pick up on Ebay and adds a different twist to convention favourite that is seen everywhere you look.

Last but not least is Dante from the reboot of the Devil May Cry series. I was looking at going for the classic look Dante but the reboot game DMC was surprisingly good and left a good impression on me and think its something that can be done for fairly cheap after the jacket has been bought. The main concern would be the Rebellion sword and the new Ebony and Ivory guns that have a more curved design to the handles. This is one i have not seen that often at conventions and is one i am really looking at doing.

So there you go guys. There is my list of possible cosplays for the future and i would love to hear your suggestions as to what i should go as for Comic Con next year. Comment below you sexy fuckers.

I Play. You Play. We all play for Cosplay (Part 1)

Hey there internet.

I realise i haven't been blogging as often as i probably should and ive missed a lot of opportunity's to do posts about recent announcements and trailers (OH MY GOD JURASSIC PARK!!!) But i think its time i do a post that requires some audience participation.

As I'm sure many of you who know me personally i am a fan of fancy dress or as its known to many convention goers Cosplay. This is pretty much an excuse for teens and adults to dress up as characters from their favourite Shows, Anime and Films and show their passion in a way many people don't show that often.

As the old saying goes "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" and nowhere is it more apparent how much somebody is obsessed with something than at a convention where thousands of people many of whom have sewn, moulded and bought their costumes to proudly strut amoungst other avid fans. I for one find this kind of dedication incredible and fancy myself as part of the armature ranks of cosplay. That being said i would like to share some of my favourite cosplays i have come across at conventions and some possible cosplay ideas I'm looking at going as for MCM and London Film Comic Con in 2015.

First i want to show off all the fantastic cosplays i have came across at events.

Boba Fett

Jack Sparrow. (He actually smelt like rum)

The X-Men and Toad

Plants Vs Zombies (This is a fucking adorable idea and works so well)

Tower Of Pimps

The Z Warriors. (Roshi was more into it than everyone else)

Ghost Rider  (Simple enough yet still awesome)

Joffrey from Game Of Thrones

Me and my glamorous girlfriend as Cosmo and Wanda from Fairly Odd Parents

Me as Heisenberg (I shaved my head and miss my hair dearly)

I have saved the best till last. This kid was by far the best costume i have seen (His dad was  dressed as Happy Hogan)

The last picture is one that always makes me smile. Because cosplay is about more than just dressing up and being immature. Its real escapism, not the brief hour or so you get at the local cinema or playing a game.  It gives everyday people the chance to live thier fantasies and feel more than just another worker bee. It gives people who may sit in front of an office computer for 7 hours a day a chance to be something more for the brief time they are there.

Nobody is limited by race, gender or physical capabilities. If you can wear the costume you can forget about any struggles you have in the "real world" and just enjoy being someone else. I challenge anyone to go to a convention and when you get asked for a picture by another fan try to not get that feeling that you are a celebrity. The ability to turn heads is not one every person has but at a convention your sure to make a few people stop and think " Wow thats awesome"

So my babbling has gone on long enough for one post. I guess ill have to split this up into multiple parts. The second part ill be sharing a few ideas i have brewing for next year and will be open to suggestions (Be gentle)

Talk Nerdy To Me

Hola Internet.

Its been a while since my last post and i wanted to do something a bit different and dabble in other areas of bogging. So rather than being my usual opinionated self or babbling on about films and games I'm going to do a.... Fashion Post.

                                             *GASP*

Well i say fashion. I essentially mean an insight as to where to get the best gifts for someone you know who is usually typecast as (Impossible to buy for) The fact all of the sites sell tops that i have many of means i I'm calling this a fashion post so get used to it bitches.

*swooshes cape in a camp manner*

Number 1 on my list goes to

Now if you frequent many conventions odds are you have seen these guys knocking about somewhere in some shape or form. They're awesome quality tops come second to none and as well as proving being nerdy doesn't have to make you unfashionable they also double as costumes for conventions. Ive bought a few tops from here and even got a free Assassins Creed bath robe from them one year at MCM so check them out. Threes bound to be something that tickles your fancy.

You can check out their website by clicking this nifty link here https://www.insertcoinclothing.com/

Number 2 on the list goes to

I fucking love this site. The premise is so simple yet perfect. Artists create their own designs and users on the site vote for their favourite designs. The shirt with the most votes goes on sale on the site BUT only for a limited time. As you can expect it makes it that much more fun knowing you'll be the owner of a limited print that nobody can just simply walk into a store and wear themselves thus creating something that is hard to create for £8. Exclusivity. Oh yeah your eyes didn't deceive you as well. The designs are limited and can be rare but the best part is the tshirts are only £8 or $12 if you live in the US of A. If thats not good enough to get you to bookmark them or at least check them out them you good sir/madam have no soul.

Check them out on http://www.qwertee.com/

P.S They sometimes give you Haribo with your t-shirt and who can turn down free sweets from strangers on the Internet?

Number 3 is

This is probably the best site if your looking for strictly comic book designs. The site lets you choose from each character and has a wide variety of products from hats to fucking utility belts. Its where i buy a lot of my character tshirts or even some of my nerdy delacates (Underwear for you uncivilised swines) They are a bit pricier than some of the other places but you know your paying for top quality goods so i have no issues with forking out a bit more for officially licenced items.

Click this thing to check them out http://www.superherostuff.com/

Last but certainly not least is the officially awesome

This site has a ton fuck of amazing gift ideas for that special someone and has something for everyone from Men, Women, Kids, The Elderly, Animals, That one guy who picks his nose and eats it and the pervert down the road. Also with Christmas lingering like creeping Jesus its time to get some ideas down and gifts in the basket.

*Insert Buffalo Bill joke here*

http://www.truffleshuffle.co.uk/store/ < Click there to check out their site.

So there you go my list of in my opinion the best sites you can get gifts and shirts for that geek in your life. I feel a few honourable mentions need to be given to eBay, Amazon and Play.com. They are also awesome and you can find a few decent finds on them.

Any sites you would like to share? Comment below.

Marvel's Announcement

Hey guys.

As I'm sure many of you are aware now Marvel has released a flurry of new information about their upcoming film projects and what heroes are next to receive the big screen treatment and lets be honest with ourselves. Its fucking amazing. So sit back and bget ready for some nerdgasms.

My face seeing the announcement
Marvel have clearly had a game plan since day 1 with their movie franchises and that plan seems to be going strong to this day. Ever since Iron Man was released in 2008 Marvel has been gradually building a universe where all of the fan favourites can get big films and not have to be bent over a pinball table to please studio executives.

Marvel started out building slowly but surely to the Avengers which was an accomplishment almost every studio before Marvel had thought impossible to do right (The reason we have not had crossovers between Fox franchises or a Justice League movie)

But after the success of Avengers many doubted if Marvel could keep up this winning streak. Every film being awesome in their own right. Every character getting a story that brings out their unique personality that only adds to the enormity of what it means for an Avengers film. Marvel has captured lightning in a bottle time and time again with their films and with the new line up for the next few years its hard to see fault in their plan.

On that note i think its time to show the next phase of Marvel films.

Phase 3

So. What does this mean for the characters we know and does it show any hints as to what marvel plan to do with their franchises.

Now there are many familiar names there and some name that have you scratching your head. Don't worry Marvel will make you very familiar with them soon enough through Disneys many channels of promotion. Also i think it needs to be mentioned that whoever handles the casting for Marvel deserves a massive pay rise after nailing every character to an actor that can portray the shit out them and give it their all *cough Benedict Cumberbatch cough cough*

Fan art of Doctor Strange

We also got a look at the concept art for Black Panther and it looks perfect.

Black Panter

Now if your a fan of the comics you will no doubt jizzed your pants at 2 of the parts to the picture below. The first being the "Civil War" story, now in the comics this was a huge event where the US government passes the superhero registration act which in essence means heroes must report to the government and act like their own police force with regulations and restrictions on what they can do and for many people to reveal their secret identity. The main drive of the story being two main Avengers pick completely different sides to what you would expect their characters to pick. Billionaire playboy philanthropist Iron Man sides with the government and wants all super powered heroes to sign up where Captain America is opposed to the idea and argues that heroes required secrecy in order to protect aspects of their 'normal' life, such as spouses and children, and to allow them to act in whatever means necessary against threats which the ordinary emergency services couldn't cope with. Now this is a huuuge storyline that is extremely well executed and has a massive aspect to the story which if done in the film would BLOW YOUR FUCKING MIND.

The second picture that would have left your jizz covered room begging for you to stop looking at is the Avengers: Infinity War poster. This is the most ambitious film idea ever in my opinion as it will see everything Marvel has been building come together in a scale that will make DC and Warner Brothers shit their pants with fear. In a nutshell this looks like its Marvels moneyshot. Every character they have shown us in all of their movies will be in this film which means we will see the Guardians Of The Galaxy team up with The Avengers to fight Thanos in space. THAT IS FUCKING HUGE!!

Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet

Now its unclear if Marvel will be rebooting their many franchises after this film but it would seem likely considering the actors will be ageing and they would want to start up again with fresher faces that can keep up the roles for longer. This could be interesting because it means that they can use the time old comic book tradition of saying "We aren't changing your favourite characters. This is just an alternate dimension" which is the easiest way to calm every angry Internet nerd who hasn't seen their favourite iteration of a character being portrayed while giving them hope it could happen in the future.

So what do you guys think? Are you excited to see where Marvel will be taking their ever expanding universe? Let me know in the comments below.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron Trailer (Official)

As I'm sure many of you are aware the much anticipated Avengers film i on its way next year and marvel is wasting no time with the promotion.

After an explosive reaction to the clip and trailer that was shown at Comic Con this year Marvel has played this one safe and ensured nobody has snuck any footage out of the main hall. That being said the leaked audio from the trailer did provide some sort of sneak peak at some scenes we are to see from earths mightiest heroes.

UPDATE: Marvel have now officially released the trailer in full glorious HD. Its as awesome as you'd expect.

Forget Spidermans "gritty" reboot or the gruff Nolan Batman. This looks like it could bring the Marvel films into a fully mature audience. Lets face it the kids who went to see Iron Man when it came out have basically grown up with Marvels current generation of films and it will define what they class a superhero film to be.

All in all it looks like Joss Whedon is trying to make the Avengers films more than just a climax to a phase. The Avengers films are a global event that will have millions begging for just a bit more.

So what do you think? Are you excited about the trailer? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Untitled Book Project - Update 1

Hello Internet.

As I'm sure many of you are aware by now i am not your usual kind of blogger who writes highly professional articles on hard hitting subjects or has inside know how on things people find fascinating. BUT! what i do have is a passion to share my weird little view on things with people and if i can entertain someone for 5 minutes with a silly blog post then job accomplished.

With this being said i am embarking on a new direction with my writing and its something completely new for me which i have no idea how I'm going to manage the new terrain but i like a challenge. I am going to start writing a book. Yes a real book. With a real story and characters and everything. Now I'm sure literally everyone who has read my previous posts is reading this with that sarcastic Internet voice in their head.

"UUGGHHH he can't write a book. He doesn't have the attention span or skill"

and to you delightful individuals i say "GO FUCK YOURSELF WITH SOMETHING HARD AND SAND PAPERY"

Now the actual details of the story are extremely thought provoking and after looking into this a bit further it doesn't appear anyone has done it before which gives me little flutters in my fat rolls. As i get more into the story ill be able to divulge more information and once I've managed to get some form of copyright on my idea and put a decent amount of pen to paper (well... fingers to keys) i will be looking for a way to get into the big world of publishing. This brings me to my biggest concern.

I have no idea how to move forward with this to help my idea get off the ground. I don't want to rush this and try to hand it off to anyone who will just put it to one side and not give it a glance. Which is where i need YOU! *Points finger enthusiastically*

I need advice and who better to ask then the people who i would want to share something I'm really passionate about who read my less than stellar work and deserve something decent that grips you and keeps you invested from page to page.

So I'm looking for someone who has published work or knows of the best ways to get my work out there where it actually stands a chance of being put out there for people to read.

If you can help out comment below with any advice or if you can provide and words of advice with how to proceed then get in touch with me through the contact me section of my blog.

Thanks guys.

Now Loading... Abe's Oddysee: Oddworld

With the recent remastered version of the game being re-released on the current generation of consoles i thought it would be a good time to pick up an old series of mine. Now Loading...

This is where i review classic games i played when i was younger that i really enojoyed and feel need a remake or even a whole new game foor the current consoles. With this being the case i decided to focus my first post on a recently remastered game. So lets get started.

Now Loading... Abe's Oddysee: Oddworld

This strange looking alien was a part of a lot of our childhoods and was one of the first 3D side scrollers on the PlayStation. The story follows a worker on "Rapture Farms" a food processing company that uses slaves of Abe's race to work in their factories and dedicate their lives to the corporation. One late night Abe stumbles upon a board meeting and hears the company is losing sales so they need a new product called New n Tasty which was made with a new secret ingredient. After listening in some more Abe finds out the ingredient in question is his race, so Abe finds himself on the run attempting to escape the factory and save as many of his people along the way.

As you can see the intro graphics have stood the test of time well and don't look outdated as much as other PlayStation games. The game was a 3D side scroller that used some interesting abilities that hadn't been used much in other games. First off Abe had the ability to gather other employees and order them about by simply saying "wait here" or "follow me" this allowed players to check out areas ahead before running in with 3 followers and losing one because you couldn't turn around fast enough. Another fun mechanic to the game was the ability to control the guards. This ability gave the player the ability to go the gun toting psycho and take out other guards or just run into a giant saw and take him out that way.

Another neat point to Abe's Oddesee was the amount of cool immature things you could do that gave the game a lot more playability. While you tried to solve a puzzle you could pass the time by passing gas ( literally Abe would fart ) and the best part was if you had followers they would all laugh at your impressive ability to fart on Que. Another little neat thing i liked was if Abe runs into a wall rather than just hit it and have no reaction Abe would fall on his ass and grunt as if he was annoyed with himself ( Or the player )

All in all Abe provided players with an old style of playing and Incorporated some new techniques to make it more interesting and appealing to a wider audience. The game was fun and had a lot of serious undertones that where not too obvious and didn't beat us over the head like a lot of children's games and films do now.

So if you havent checked out Abe yet do so. Its currently on the Playstation 4 now as a direct download and is being released on PS3, PS Vita, PC, Mac and Linux it still is as enjoyable as a 22 year old as it was as a 9 year old.

Take Me Down To Gotham City Where The Villians Are Evil And The Heroes Are Gritty

So for those of you living in the US I'm sure your way ahead of us simple Brit's with the new series Fox has rolled out that gives us the origins of Gotham's most notorious and dangerous villains as well as one of the most bad ass superheroes ever.

With the series off the an explosive start in the US and being well received in the UK i decided to do a post about the series as its just starting out here and raise a few of my likes, dislikes and other views i have on the show so far.

Lets get started on a positive.

Likes

- Its awesome. No denying what fox have started is something that is easy to get into if your a lifelong resident of Gotham city or if your just visiting for the first time. The show gives us an origins for every big player in Gotham's future including a young Bruce Wayne and an even more cockney Alfred.

- The characters. The show writers have got the whole tone captured as to what they want to do with the characters and how they want to portray a pre supervillian Gotham that is struggling to keep afloat with its constant battle between the mobs and police and future big players.

- The City. They get the whole city covered and make great use of the locations they use to make the city have a larger feel to it and cover different locations from the lows of the slums to the luxury of
Wayne manor.

Now for the less than stellar parts.

Dislikes

The Changes - Yes I'm aware this is being picky but fuck it the backstorys that have been established by the comics provide such great reasons for the characters becoming as twisted as they are when they come toe to toe to Batman. But this being said the new back story's do make the city feel more compact and gives more of a reason why they stay in Gotham and don't expand to other city's.

The Lack Of Suspense - With this being an origins story to the future of Gotham's biggest characters any feeling of suspense or danger has been thrown out the window. Whenever we see Gordon, Oswald and Bruce in any form of danger its safe to assume they'll make it out safely so putting any of them in front of a life or death situation isn't going to have anyone worried if their favourite character is in any real peril and this is the major setback of the show for me. With the Gordon being kidnapped and Oswald having to get shot in the first episode did make for entertaining viewing it was ruined by the inevitable outcome that they would make it out ok due to them being alive 20 odd years in the future.

What I Would Like To See

With the show being in the early stages its future hangs in the balance depending on if audiences respond well to the entire first series. With Fox green lighting a whole 22 episode series its looking positive so far.  Arkham appears to be a big part later on in this series which could providing a social hub for all of Batmans future enemy's to develop their alter ego's.

With this being said the show can lose audiences depending on how the story progresses over this series. Obviously i have full confidence the people who write the show have a game plan for at least 2 series and i would be lying if i said i didn't want to see a backstory for the clown prince of crime himself and maybe a few other supporting characters *COUGH* Ra's Al Ghul *COUGH*

I cant wait to see how the show progresses and im a big fan of anything that includes the Dark Knight so bring on the rest of the series.

Let me know what you think of Gotham in the comments below. Do you agree or disagree with anything? Will the caped crusader and his trusty sidekick make it out of this jam?

Find out next week on

BATMAN!!!

Tomorrow A Life Hangs In The Balance

Tomorrow is the most important day for one individual on this planet. Their fate lies in our hands and they have an important decision to make that decides if they will live to see another day.

Xur we're looking at you.

For too long we Warlocks have been oppressed by your lack of Warlock gear you are providing us with the same Sunbreakers for 3 weeks on the run and no other gear for our superior class.

We know your secret Xur. We know you are also a Warlock and plan on hoarding all the best gear for yourself and sitting in your random spot with your little squid face all smug in the knowledge we are inferior to you.

NO MORE.

We will be swift. We will be Strong. WE WILL BE WARLOCKS!!

Praise the sun.

Humble Beginnings

Well here we are again. For those of you who have no idea  who i am and are visiting this page or seeing any of my stuff for the first time let me welcome you with a recap of my story so far.

The Origins Story

The details of my life are quite inconsequential.

Where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Some times he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy, the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.

My childhood was typical, summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds, pretty standard really. At the age of 12 I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen, a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum, it's breathtaking, I suggest you try it... Wait.... No that's not right. Lets try again.

I'm Josh. 22 Years old. Gamer, Zombie Slayer, Comedian, Fat Man.

My main interests are playing games be them video or board. Collecting comics (which has recently taken a lull) and watching all the latest Films and TV shows that take my interest.

Ive previously had 2 blogs that where meant to be more professional and whilst there was enough content being provided and posts being uploaded we never took the next step and got an official website which eventually lead the the blog being shut down due to other commitments. Now I'm back and taking a more relaxed approach to this and you beautiful fuckers are here with me to witness the beginning of something i hope will be a regular thing.

What I am looking to do

Essentially what I'm looking to do is find somewhere i can post my opinions on things that i feel passionate about. Weather that is a relaxed review of the latest episode of Doctor Who or of whatever game i seem to be obsessed with at that moment.

I am also looking to get some videos put up at some point which may be lets plays in certain games or may be shows i think up from my deranged little mind. Vlogs and a podcast are also a possibility and maybe if i manage to rope her into it i may have a guest in some things i do to mix things up a bit.

What can I do to help?

Well I'm glad you asked Billy. All you need to do is keep coming back and checking up on me like an old relative that kid of smells like urine but nobody has the heart to tell them. The more views you give the more content i will upload and hopefully we can take the next step in our online relationship and maybe get our own place.

Wait, Whose Billy?

Enough asking questions and bookmark this page.

Thank you again for taking the time to read my ramblings. More will be on the way soon.

Or will they? You never know with this renegade space cowboy.
